Tilt check

Eight quick questions. Keep playing, reset, or call it.

Question 1 of 8

How did your last few games go?

How to use it

  1. Answer eight quick questions honestly. Nobody sees them; nothing is saved.
  2. Read the verdict: keep playing, take a 5-minute reset, or done for today.
  3. Follow the button. A reset opens the breathing pacer, set to five minutes.
  4. Run it again after the reset, or whenever a loss stings more than it should.

Why it works

This is a rule-of-thumb check we wrote, not a validated psychological test. The questions target things with real evidence behind them. Even mild stress that feels out of your control can quickly blunt working memory, attention and flexible thinking, the exact skills a close round needs (Arnsten, 2009). Short sleep hits simple attention hardest (Lim & Dinges, 2010).

Breaks of ten minutes or less give a small lift in energy and a small drop in fatigue. They don't reliably make you perform better, so think of a reset as getting back to feeling okay, not as a cheat code (Albulescu et al., 2022).

When to use it

  • After two losses in a row, before you hit queue again.
  • When you notice you've gone quiet on comms, or not quiet enough.
  • Late at night, when "one more" has happened three times.
